I was having a odd issue with windows 11 and Freebsd/Smb4.. in explorer it was taking forever to load a shared drive.  You would type \\servername and it would just sit there and do nothing.  Come to find out windows prefers LL and has disregard DNS unix/linux clients.  We can turn this off by editing the GPO;

To disable Smart Multi-Homed Name Resolution (SMHNR) in Windows, use the Group Policy Editor. Open gpedit.msc, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network > DNS Client, and double-click "Turn off smart multi-homed name resolution". Enable the policy and apply the changes.
